POLICE: Yesterday, threats delay departure of two school buses

The following incidents were taken from reports on file with the Mt. Laurel Police Department.

The Mt. Laurel Police Department received many inquiries from concerned parents of Lenape High School students regarding alleged threats made to a student.

The Mount Laurel Police Department is investigating an alleged incident of electronic threats that occurred on Jan. 16. A juvenile victim received electronic text messages of a threatening nature in the evening hours of Jan. 16. On Jan. 17, the threats were disclosed to the Mt. Laurel Police Department and Lenape High School officials. Due to the nature of the threats, and as a precaution, Lenape officials delayed the departure of two Mt. Laurel bound buses for approximately 20 minutes after normal dismissal time. The Mt. Laurel Township Police Department dispatched extra patrols to particular bus stops and ensured the safe return home of all children.

The Mt. Laurel Township Police Department is investigating the matter and will continue to work closely with the Medford Police Department and Lenape High School to ensure the safety of our students.
