POLICE: multiple charged in burglary ring including 78-year-old woman

Beginning in October of 2012 and continuing through the end of November 2012, Medford Township residents living in the Hoot Owl and Tamarac developments experienced multiple residential burglaries and suspicious incidents.

The investigation determined that there were three robberies in Tamarac and four in Hoot Owl with similar circumstances.

Police developed several persons of interest during the investigation.

In mid-December, the agency began a cooperative investigation in with the Evesham Police Department, as well as the Cherry Hill Police Department, due to similar incidents in those jurisdictions.

The investigation identified two female Medford residents as suspects for involvement in some of the incidents in Medford.

Medford Police continued the investigation, which culminated on Jan. 11, with charges filed against five suspects.

One of the females was charged with five counts of burglary, five counts of theft, two counts of criminal mischief, two counts of conspiracy and two counts of attempted burglary. She was incarcerated at the Burlington County Jail Minimum Security Facility when the charges were issued.

The second suspect was charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of theft. She was arrested at her home and lodged in the Burlington County Jail Minimum Security Facility.

The male involved in the case was charged with one count of burglary, one count of theft, one count of criminal mischief, one count of criminal attempt burglary and one count of conspiracy. He was already incarcerated in the Burlington County Jail when the charges were issued.

Currently, there are active arrest warrants for two of the suspects involved in the case, who were each charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit burglary.

Medford Police also charged 78-year-old female suspect with maintaining a nuisance. She is the homeowner of a residence on Ohio Trail, the home to many of the suspects charged in this investigation.

It was determined that the subjects routinely used this residence for criminal activity.

The elderly woman turned herself into police and was released pending a Medford Township Municipal Court hearing.
