Cops: Elderly man involved in hit and run

The following is on file with the Evesham Police Department:

On Oct. 9 at 8:12 p.m. Evesham Police conducted a motor vehicle stop along East Main Street near Knox Boulevard in Marlton.

During this investigation, the officer noticed heavy damage to the 1997 blue Ford Taurus on the front passenger side. The damage is consistent with the vehicle striking a pedestrian.

The driver, an 81-year-old Cherry Hill resident, recalled striking something but was unsure of what and unsure where.

According to Sargent Joseph Friel, helicopters and dogs searched the surrounding area for a possible victim, in addition to calling local-area hospitals with no success.
