Festival offers up fun for families

The leaves are changing and falling from the trees while Moorestown greets the fall season by hosting its 19th annual Autumn in Moorestown on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“It was created as an event to bring people to town to enjoy what we have to offer and bring together the community for a day of family fun,” member of Moorestown Business Association (MBA) Helen Davies-Miramontes said.

Family activities and art attracts people from various towns, Miramontes said. This year, approximately 80 artist and craftsman booths will line Main Street. Classic cars and musical entertainment will also be a part of the attraction.

Pumpkin painting, face painting and balloon making, even scarecrow-making, add to the festivities.

The event is strictly arts and crafts and classic cars, Miramontes said. But it is also a way to expose the local community as well as exposing Moorestown businesses.

“Local businesses are involved as we bring people into the community and they shop locally at the same time,” she said.

A few restaurants are also providing food services at the event — popcorn, hotdogs, funnel cakes and more.

Approximately 19,000 people showed up at the event last year. Miramontes expects the same amount and possibly more.

“[Autumn in Moorestown] brings the community out to share in a day of fun for the whole family,” said Miramontes. “It bring people in from surrounding neighborhoods who may not know what we offer as a community.”

For more information about the event, visit www.moorestownbusiness.com. Main Street will be closed to traffic from Church Street to Chester Avenue starting at 7 a.m. Main Street will reopen at 5:30 p.m.
