School announces scholarship winners

Christ the King Regional School is pleased to announce scholarship awards from the Elaine M. Celenza Scholarship Fund for 2011–2012 academic year.

Anthony Celenza and the scholarship committee presented scholarships to its first two recipients: Lisa Vigilante, a fifth-grade student and Joseph Nugent, a first-grade student. A $750 scholarship is awarded to each student for caring for others before themselves and who go out of their way to help others.

The scholarship fund was established from donations made in memory of Elaine M. Celenza, who passed away at the age of 48 on Feb. 24 after a long fight with cancer. Elaine lived life to the fullest and fought hard against the cancer to be here as long as she could. She involved her life in her family and community of Haddonfield and the teens and kids surrounding her. Elaine was thankful for all of you who have helped her and her family in any way. Elaine was a secretary at Christ the King Regional School and an active member of Christ the King Parish.

Educating pre-kindergarten to eighth-grade students, Christ the King Regional School is a Catholic learning community with a long standing tradition of rigorous academic standards and spiritually relevant teachings. Middle school students at CKRS would experience readers and writers’ workshops, a full science laboratory with LED microscopes, and the Rosetta Stone Classroom language program. Both in the classroom and outside of school, students in all grades have an instinctive desire to serve God and others. Students donate their time and talents to give back to the community through programs like Kids Alley and non-profit groups like Babe’s Kids.

Families interested in attending Christ the King should contact the school’s advancement director at (856) 429–2084 or via email advancement@ckrs.org.
