Construction on Haddonfield-Berlin Road

The Camden County Department of Public works held a meeting Tues. July 31, to discuss the reconstruction of Haddonfield-Berlin Road (Rt. 561).

“It’s important for Camden County to make necessary improvements and invest into our infrastructure,” said Freeholder Ian Leonard, liaison to the Department of Public works in a news release.

The construction is set to begin Aug. 6 and take approximately 12 weeks, according to a news release.

Underground pipework, curb work and milling and repaving from the Voorhees gas station to the Voorhees-Cherry Hill border at Evesham Road.

New traffic signs will be added and traffic-monitoring cameras are going to be installed at the intersections of White Horse Road, Voorhees Drive, and Laurel Oak Road.

In addition to the construction on Rt. 561, an eroded pipe is set for repair on White Horse Road. A creek runs perpendicular under a portion of the White Horse Rd.

The construction will take place Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Paving to the road will be done at night.

Delays are expected, but the road will still be passable unless the roads need to be closed.

Spellman said the roads should only be closed on an “as-needed basis.” Otherwise, one lane should be open for cars to pass through.
