This years “Summer Twilight Series” is coming close to the end

The Annual Summer Twilight Series is getting closer to the final show.

There are only two left before the Series ends with the annual movie night Sept. 17.

The next show for the Summer Twilight Series will be held on the “great Lawn” at Connolly Park Aug. 2 at 7:30 p.m.

From the first show, the township’s Summer Twilight Series featured bands that the entire family enjoyed.

Director of Special Events and Economic Development Director, Michael Marchitto, made sure to pick the classics so the entire family could enjoy the Series. There is a “cross section of viewers” from all age groups.

Here is a quick recap of the first two shows during the Concert Series:

The first show, June 14, featured Bruce in the USA — a Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band tribute show. On July 12, Hotel California: A Salute to the Eagles performed.

The next show, Aug. 2, breaks up the flashback music by bringing in Cocktail Party Phenomenon — a local band composed of five musicians who cram a variety of genres into one unifying sound.

Marchitto wants to make sure that not only the residents of Voorhees are enjoying a localized vacation, but that people from surrounding neighborhoods are enjoying themselves too.

“I like to change it up a bit,” Marchitto said.

The first show brought in approximately 3,500 people and the numbers continued to stay consistent throughout the series.

The main focus of the show is for the community to enjoy a localized vacation without spending money.

Marchitto tries to bring in new acts to each series and some past favorites to make sure there are always new faces to the crowd. Besides the Cocktail Party Phenomenon’s performance, Marchitto is looking forward to the Journey Tribute band performing Aug. 16.

The Summer Twilight Series will end with the Annual Movie Night in the Park Saturday, Sept. 15. The students of Voorhees schools get to vote on the featured movie.
