Burlington County Animal Shelter lowers adoption fees

Burlington County Freeholder Mary Ann O’Brien, who oversees the Health Department and Animal Shelter, announced a reduced fees adopt-a-pet program “Dog Days of Summer” at the Burlington County Animal Shelter.

A kickoff event will be held on July 28 and includes family friendly activities. Fees are now reduced for both dogs and cats and the event included pet friendly vendors, rescue groups and fun activities for the whole family.

The reduced dog adoption program will run concurrently with the “adopt-a-shelter-cat” promotion beginning July 28, and running through the end of August.

The cat adoption fee has been reduced from $45 to $20.

The reduced adoption fees for dogs and puppies will be $40, as opposed to the regular charges of $75 for dogs.

“This annual program helps to give needy animals good homes with reduced adoption fees and also includes having their pets spayed or neutered,” said O’Brien.

The shelter provides spayed or neutered animals for adoption in hopes of controlling the county’s animal population.

The County Animal Shelter is located on Academy Drive off of Woodlane Road, behind the Burlington County Library in Westhampton Township.

Hours of operation are noon to 7:00 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays; noon to 4 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and noon to 3:30 pm on Saturdays.

The shelter is closed on Sundays and holidays.
