Moorestown BOE member resigns

The board of education will have to replace Linda Alexandroff after the BOE member tendered her resignation. More change might be coming to the BOE in November, as eight candidates have registered to run in the board of education election, according to the Burlington County website.

Alexandroff submitted a resignation letter to the district on June 25, effectively ending her run on the board that had lasted for the past nine-and-a-half years. Her seat on the board was going to expire at the end of 2012. She had not registered to run for reelection in the 2012 elections.

Alexandroff cited her family’s relocation to a new school district as her reasoning for leaving.

“It has been my pleasure to serve the community, the district, parents, staff and especially the children as a member of the board. Over the years, I have devoted countless hours to support the district, its goals and objectives. My position on the board has allowed me to work, in the past and the present, with many fine educators, support staff, administrators and of course involved parents,” she wrote in her statement. “I have enjoyed each connection I made and will miss the camaraderie afforded to me by the many board members who have served with me over the past years. The decision to leave now is the result of my family moving to a new home in an adjacent community.”

The BOE is seeking interested applicants to fill the remaining months of Alexandroff’s seat. Applicants must submit a resume and letter of intent to the Moorestown Township Board of Education, c/o Lynn Shugars, Business Administrator/Board Secretary, Administration Building 803 N. Stanwick Road Moorestown, N.J., 08057.

The resume and letter of interest may be hand-delivered to the address above between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The resume and letter of interest must be received by 4 p.m. on July 31.

The new member’s seat will expire at the end of the year.

Please visit the district’s website at www.mtps.com to view the qualifications for candidacy.

The BOE will see three seats expire at the end of the year. William Van Fossen III and David Weinstein will also see their seats expire this year.

According to the clerk’s office, Weinstein was the only incumbent member on the board of education to file for reelection, meaning there will be at least two new members on the board of education for the 2013 school year.

Each seat is a full-term seat for three years.

Candidate Weinstein will be running against Brandon J. Pugh, Joseph Ruccolo, Daniella Gordon, Christian J. Moye, Dimitri Schneiberg, Sheryl Sawin, and Rebecca Hagerty Williams.
