Medford Township partners with YMCA

Due to budgetary issues, the Township of Medford has found it necessary to eliminate recreation programming currently provided by the Medford Recreation Department. In response, the YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties has stepped up to help by continuing recreational programs and services for the Medford community.

Medford Mayor James “Randy” Pace said, “We have had to make many difficult budgetary decisions recently, but we have been actively seeking solutions to issues at the same time. We are fortunate to be able to create a partnership with the YMCA, an organization with the resources, capabilities and experience to manage and deliver many of the programs that were previously offered by the Township Recreation Department. It is partnerships like this that will enable our Township to thrive in the future.”

Tim Kerrihard, President and CEO of the YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties said, “We are pleased to help, and look forward to enhancing and expanding the offerings to which Medford families have become accustomed. At the Y, we offer health and wellness and youth and family programs, not only in our own facilities but also in various locations throughout both Burlington and Camden Counties. It fits in nicely with our strategy to bring the Y to every neighborhood in our area. This, along with our partnerships and fundraising capabilities, makes us optimistic that we will be able to offer many quality programs for residents to choose from, with a pricing structure that enables everyone to participate.”

Mike Gerber, YMCA Board Chairman said, “Today, as governments and other organizations face difficult budget decisions, the Y is here to serve our community through affordable, accessible programs focusing on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Partnerships like this strengthen our communities and create new models for working together. We look forward to partnering with Medford to deliver impactful programs in the area.”
