Plenty to do in Evesham Township this summer

You can feel the buzz in the air (mainly from the schools in the township) and its becoming clear that summer is on its way. Instead of traveling Down the Shore for a weekend or taking an expensive vacation, why not indulge in a “staycation” and check out all of the summer events in Marlton.

Come out to the township on Friday, June 1, at the old Sears Essential parking lot from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for a “Township Takeover” with the Philadelphia Soul Arena League Football team.

The event will feature a “run-through” practice by the Soul. It’s a free event for all to attend.

This will be the team’s last practice before they play the Orlando Predators (1–7) on Saturday, June 2, with kickoff scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Center.

The Soul are currently in first place in the Arena Football League’s American Conference East Division.

Thousands of visitors will flock to Marlton for its annual Independence Day festivities, which will be held on Wednesday, July 4, throughout Evesham Township. The multi-event festival culminates in the award winning fireworks display and support the troops rally at Cherokee High School.

The day begins early in the morning with registration at 7 a.m. for the Marlton Mayor’s Cup 5K run and 1-mile fun run, which begins at 8:30 a.m. The race registration and the start of the circuit is held at the intersection of Main Street and Cooper Street.

The kids bike parade registration begins at 10 a.m. and will kick off at 10:30 a.m. It begins at Main Street and Cooper Street and follows a course down to the Wiley Home.

The Fourth of July Parade will begin closely afterward at 11 a.m. The parade marches down Main Street from Maple Avenue to Bettlewood Road.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. at Cherokee High School for the support the troops festival prior to the fireworks display. Paratroopers will drop into the high school at 7:45 p.m. to kick off the rally at 8:15 p.m.

The fireworks display begins at 9:45 p.m.
