Senior Melissa Mote placed first and junior Erica Heaney placed second. Rebecca Rector, their art teacher, also won a workshop along with the winning students.

Clay In Mind is a juried exhibition of ceramic artwork created by high school students in N.J. and dedicated to the memory of James Colavita, ceramic sculptor and former teacher at Mercer County Community College. The exhibit was designed to give a venue to high school students’ ceramic artwork and to promote professional development in the medium for teachers and students.

In this statewide competition, eight first place winners are chosen for a winner’s workshop to be held on June 26 and 27 at Burlington Township High School. All first and second place winners had their artwork on exhibition at the Clay Studio Art Gallery, 139 North Second St., Philadelphia, Pa. from May 4 to 12. The closing reception and awards presentation were on Saturday, May 12 at The Clay Studio Art Gallery.
