New board member approved by Haddonfield school district

One new member will be joining the Haddonfield Board of Education and one district mainstay said goodbye last week.

The board selected Maureen Eyles to fill a vacant seat and accepted the resignation of longtime Business Administrator Andy Hall.

Superintendent of Schools Rich Perry confirmed that Eyles will serve the remainder of Lynn Biehn’s BOE term and then be up for reelection in November.

“She’s been an active advocate for the school system and we feel she’ll be a great asset,” Perry said.

Eyles is a consistent attendee at BOE meetings, Perry said. She has several children in the Haddonfield schools.

Eyles is an event planning and sponsorship sales freelancer in her professional career. She will be sworn in at an upcoming BOE meeting.

Hall tendered his resignation to the board after working in the district for the past six years, Perry said. He received an offer in the private sector that was too good to pass up, Perry said.

The business administrator has been a focal point each year in creating the school district budgets, Perry said, and was one of the main reasons the district is now approving a 0-percent school-tax increase for 2012–2013.

“It came as a shock when he resigned. He had a great opportunity in the private sector and has been very successful in that sector before,” Perry said. “It’s a good time in his life to take that opportunity. He’s done a fantastic job. He’s helped implement several school initiatives. He’s more than a business administrator; he’s an educational leader and a great friend.”

The district will advertise for the opening and interview qualified candidates, Perry said.
