The Tarditis of Haddonfield honored by local college

Community service and fundraising leaders Jack and Barbara Tarditi, of Haddonfield, have received the 2012 Camden County College Civic Leadership Award from the Camden County College Foundation and CCC’s Center for Civic Leadership and Responsibility.

The Tarditis were honored for the depth and breadth of their charitable contributions during a celebration on the college’s Blackwood campus, which raised more than $41,000 for foundation initiatives.

Before joining well-wishers for a performance by Tony Award-nominated comedian, actor and musician Robert Klein, the couple was recognized with an award reception and the presentation of a framed resolution from the college trustees.

In that document, the trustees noted the Tarditis “have spent their four decades as husband and wife demonstrating through personal, professional and philanthropic giving that there is more to life than achieving success.” They also noted “the generosity of the Tarditis has enhanced the lives of countless South Jersey residents and upheld the highest ideals of the Camden County College Center for Civic Leadership and Responsibility.”

The Tarditis — who are the former mayor and first lady of Haddonfield — have devoted countless hours and resources to local government, the business community and numerous nonprofit bodies.

They have made the act of raising money for charity one of their most common pastimes.

The Tarditis have run various fundraising events and even established their own charitable fund to support initiatives enacted by arts, community, cultural, education, healthcare, quality-of-life, women’s welfare and other entities. They also have served on many boards and provided leadership throughout Camden County and South Jersey.
