Police: Three participate in ‘organized’ robbery of Jay Roberts Jewelers

The Evesham Police Department is looking for three men who they believe are responsible for an armed robbery that netted more than $400,000 in jewelry at the Jay Roberts Jewelry Store, 515 Route 73 South.

Police say the received a call on Thursday, March 8, at 7:44 p.m., on a report of an armed robbery in progress at the store.

An investigation revealed three men, all wearing dark clothing and bandanas to cover their faces, entered the jewelry store — and once there, ordered all employees to get on the ground, police said.

One of the suspects was carrying a hammer and another was carrying a large white-colored laundry-style bag, according to police.

The three suspects appeared to be very organized in their efforts, as one suspect broke numerous glass cases with a hammer, while the other two suspects worked together to collect watches from the smashed cases and placing them inside the bag, police said.

It took approximately 45 seconds from the time the suspects entered the store until they fled, police said.

The three suspects left the store southbound on Route 73 through the parking lot, police said. Witnesses reported the men got into a dark-colored sedan with a dull finish, bearing unknown New Jersey registration.

The large majority of the stolen proceeds were high-end watches, with a total estimated value of $450,000, according to police.
