FEMA funding for Haddonfield announced

The Camden County Office of Emergency Management has coordinated the reimbursement of $1,303,329 in expenses to date that were incurred across Camden County due to Hurricane Irene. The August 2011 storm was one of the costliest hurricanes on record in the Northeastern United States.

“Camden County submitted a Public Assistance Reimbursement Application to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on behalf of the county, municipalities, government agencies and healthcare providers,” said Freeholder Rodney Greco, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Safety. “We expect to receive confirmation of additional reimbursements in the near future that bring the total even higher.”

Camden County OEM personnel coordinated and worked with its local counterparts to apply for the funds from the federal government. This application and the compensation would not have come to fruition and been successful if strong partnerships were not in place amongst all levels of government.

Haddonfield will receive more than $43,000 through the county FEMA funds coming in.

“The FEMA funds are a great benefit to municipalities that were faced with emergency expenditures for which they had not budgeted,” said Greco. “I commend all those involved in the application process that successfully provided relief to Camden County.”

Camden County government’s reimbursement alone is $348,638. Funding in the amount of $235,162 covered salaries and overtime for employees of the Public Safety and Public Works Departments, and $113,476 went toward labor, equipment and dam repairs for the Parks Department.
