Fire elections will be held tomorrow in Voorhees

On Feb. 18, residents will have the opportunity to vote on the Voorhees Fire Department budget.

Residents will approve or deny the department’s $7,466,965 budget, as well as elect two members to fire commissioner seats. The 2012 budget is under the 2 percent state-mandated cap.

The budget, Fire Chief Jim Pacifico said, was a decrease from last year’s nearly $7.5 million budget.

Residents will also vote to fill two vacant seats on the Board of Fire Commissioners. Thomas Hanney, incumbent Barbara Silary, Kurtis Stroemel and Vaughn Vandegrift are vying for three-year seats.

There is no special question on the ballot this year.

The election will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 2 to 9 p.m.

Residents from district 1, 4 and 12 will vote at the Ashland Presbyterian Church, 33 E. Evesham Rd.

Residents from districts 2, 5 and 18 will vote at Voorhees Fire Station #2, 2002 S. Burnt Mill Rd.

Residents from districts 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 19 will vote at Voorhees Fire Station #3, 423 Cooper Rd.

Residents may also vote by mail by contacting the Camden County Clerk’s Office at 225–7220 or online at www.camdencounty.com/government/voter-information/vote-mail-law.
