If the shoe fits, you must acquit in Haddonfield

The following items can be found on file with the Haddonfield Police Department:

• An officer was dispatched to Kings Highway East on Jan. 5 at 2:33 a.m. for an alarm activation at a business. The officer didn’t notice anyone in the store after observing a windowpane had been smashed in. The cash registers were open and empty, which the owner of the store said was common practice when the shop was closed for the day.

A male suspect was stopped at the PATCO station by an officer for not paying his fare. The 41-year-old man, from Merchantville, was questioned and his shoes were examined.

It was found that his shoes matched several prints at the scene. A print on the door of the store also matched his shoes, the officer reported.

The suspect was charged with burglary and was remanded to the Burlington County Jail.

• A Merion Avenue resident reported to police on Jan. 20 at 8:35 p.m. an attempted burglary to her home. The rear window had been removed, but nothing was missing from the home.

• A Washington Avenue resident reported to police on Jan. 21 at 10:38 a.m. that someone broke into the home on Jan. 20. Nothing was missing from the home.

• A Kings Highway East resident reported to police on Jan. 21 at 1:40 a.m. a motor vehicle crash. The driver of the car had a .19 blood alcohol content and was charged with drunken driving.

He was brought back to the police department and processed. He was released to an acquaintance.
