Early morning fire sends one firefighter to the hospital

At 3:43 a.m. this morning, Haddon Fire Company №1 responded to a reported fire at 20 Kings Highway West. The office building is occupied by Coldwell Banker Real Estate. The fire was initially found by an alert Patco Police officer on patrol in the area of the Haddonfield Patco Station, Chief Joe Riggs reported.

Upon arriving on location, heavy fire was visible thru the roof in the back of the building. Firefighters were able to confine and extinguish the fire in the attic space above the third floor offices utilizing compressed air foam and the fire was placed under control in approx 30 minutes. Kings Highway West in the area of the Patco station was closed during the event and re-opened at approximately 6 a.m., Riggs said.

One firefighter was transported to Our Lady of Lourdes as a precautionary measure and is expected to be released later this morning. Firefighters from Cherry Hill Fire Department and Haddon Heights Fire Department assisted with extinguishing the blaze.
