Evesham Township police get their man

On Nov. 29, at approximately 12:20 a.m., the Evesham Police Department attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop on Route 73, Marlton, NJ. The suspect vehicle accelerated and refused to pull over.

The officer pursued the vehicle, which had been reported stolen in Philadelphia. The pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed into a tree on North Maple Avenue at Oak Avenue, Marlton. The suspect then fled the vehicle on foot into the Arrowhead Development.

Police searched the area for the suspect. The suspect was located and arrested without further incident. The suspect was identified as a 40-year-old male from the 2100 block of Franklin Street, Philadelphia.

The suspect was charged with Eluding Police, Receiving Stolen Property and Possession of Burglary Tools. He was committed to the Burlington County Jail in default of $50,000 bail. No one was injured during this pursuit.

Police are investigating to determine if the suspect was involved in a recent rash of tire thefts from vehicles in the area.
