Brown has served on the township committee for 12 years and has had five terms as mayor. She has also been the Tabernacle PTA president for 10 years and served 18 years on the Executive Board. As mayor, Brown listed many accomplishments and led many initiatives for the township.

“I led the charge against former Gov. Corzine and Trenton for State Police charges, saving the taxpayers of Tabernacle over $246,000 per year,” Brown said in The Sun’s Meet the Candidates series. “I initiated investigation of polluted wells in various areas in our community and arranged community meetings with NJ DEP and treatment systems for all affected wells.”

As mayor, Brown wants to continue to focus on initiatives and projects that save the taxpayers money.

“My first priority as it has remained for the past 12 years, is to continue to hold the line on taxes for our residents,” Brown said in the Meet the Candidate series. “I understand the difficulties that the residents face on a daily basis. I have been actively chasing down funds from grants that have never been applied for from prior administrations.”

Brown also thinks shared services are a good way to save the township money.

“Shared services are always the first thing that come to mind,” Brown said in the Meet the Candidates series. “However, I like to think outside of the box and seek out grants. Tabernacle was able to secure a $250,000 recreation grant from the freeholders. My goal is to have another shovel-ready project in the pipeline when freeholders open the grant application period early next year. As state funds become less available we really need to look for other alternatives for funding. We have been extremely successful in holding the line on taxes during these tough economic times.”
