Chris Myers placed on administrative leave

The situation for Chris Myers is heating up. The Medford mayor — who has denied accusations that he paid a California man for sex — has now apparently been placed on administrative leave by his employer, Lockheed Martin.

Kimberly Ramalho, a spokeswoman for the company’s Moorestown operations, said Myers was placed on administrative leave “indefinitely” last week, so as to avoid workplace distractions. The Courier-Post report said that Myers and his personal attorney, Hersch Kozlov, didn’t return calls seeking comment.

Myers’ accuser, who has not identified himself, made the accusation through an anonymous web site, in which he ran photos of a man who looked like Myers lying in bed wearing nothing but his glasses and a pair of blue Calvin Klein underwear. Other photos included Myers’ personal ID.

The website — which ran on a free hosting service called webs.com — is no longer functional. However, a version of the web site cached in Google’s archives said the accuser had been hired out through an escort service called Rentboy.com, and had met Myers at the Fairmont Hotel in Newport Beach in October 2010.

Though the escort said he did, indeed, get paid for his services, he claimed Myers drunkenly promised him a car and a sound engineering system on top of that. Since Myers never came through on that supposed gesture, however, his accuser felt justified in coming after him like this.

But Myers has denied the allegations, addressing a recent special Medford Council meeting by saying, “Anyone can do what they want anonymously on the Internet.”

Medford Township Council won’t meet again until next Monday, Nov. 14. Should be an interesting few days before we (potentially) hear from Myers again.
