Here’s an event for you, Cherry Hill seniors

Cherry Hill residents 55 and older are invited to a special Senior Open House this Thursday, Oct. 13, to receive information on community-wide senior services and activities, and enjoy a free lunch, compliments of Outback Steakhouse.

This special event runs from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at the Carmen Tilelli Community Center, at the Municipal Complex on Mercer Street.

Township staff, community organizations, local businesses and non-profit groups will be on-hand to share information about services and activities specifically geared toward residents 55 and over.

At 4 p.m., an “Understanding Social Security” session will take place in Room 208.

Cherry Hill is home to more than 10,000 seniors. Throughout his time in office, Mayor Bernie Platt has worked hard to provide high-quality, comprehensive services, activities and events for these individuals.

“During my tenure as mayor we’ve worked hard to fine-tune our offerings for our residents age 55 and over — particularly those on a fixed income,” Platt said. “From the Handy Helper home repair program; to the Senior Services hotline in our Recreation Department; to classes and activities, and events like this Open House, we at Town Hall make it a priority to schedule events and activities that are attractive and relevant to men and women of all ages and backgrounds.”

As with last year’s Senior Open House, Outback Steakhouse has generously offered to prepare free hamburgers and chicken sandwiches for all attendees. This rain-or-shine event is free to all township seniors; however, attendees must present a Gold Card or proof of residency to participate.

For more information, contact the Recreation Department at 488–7868 or Events@CHTownship.com. Additional questions can be directed to the Mayor’s Office at 488–7878.
