Crossing post changes for the upcoming school year in Mt. Laurel

Mount Laurel Township’s manager has informed the district that there will be changes in the availability of crossing guards at some of the district’s schools effective with the opening of school on Sept. 6.

Crossing guards are employees of the municipality and come under the budget of the Township Police Department. Police Chief Dennis Cribben met with Superintendent of Schools Dr. Antoinette Rath on Aug. 10 to share notice of the changes. They are:

1.) All crossing posts for Fleetwood have been eliminated by the township “due to busing availability for every student and the lack of students crossing roads without parental supervision,” according to the township manager’s memo.

2.) Lunchtime crossing posts are eliminated for Countryside, Parkway and Larchmont Schools “due to lack of students crossing without parental supervision”.

The township will maintain crossing posts at Countryside, Parkway and Larchmont schools daily during opening and closing. Those with questions regarding the change should contact Mount Laurel Police Chief Dennis Cribben.
