This month, John Engleman, owner of Lewis Funeral Home in Moorestown, was inducted as the new president of the Rotary Club of Moorestown. John has been a Rotarian since 1989 and served as the co-chair of the heritage Pancake Breakfast event for five years in addition to several other committees.
“I consider Rotary to be one of the most important things I’ve done in my life” says Engleman. “Simply stated, feeling honored and privileged to serve this great organization would be an understatement..…it was back in the summer 1995 when I was approached by Scott Coffee to join this club I never imagined that almost 16 years later I would be installed as Moorestown Rotary Club’s president.”
The Rotary Club of Moorestown is one of the largest clubs in our district. It also has the distinction of having two past district governors (the Rev. Ralph Shockey and most recently, Kathy Hiltner.,) both of whom made a great impact on the community locally and helped draw local Rotarians to the greater goals of Rotary International. John has the same intentions…..to connect our club to the greater mission of Rotary international and make a difference locally. “I have enjoyed the many people that I have worked with over the years, the friendships I have formed, and look forward to the things I know our club can accomplish,” he added.
John has well-rounded experience participating in community service, including Trustee of the Burlington County College Foundation Board, former member of the volunteer Moorestown Fire Department, Board member of the Moorestown Emergency Squad, Trustee of the Moorestown Community House, and many other community memberships. “Part of the responsibility of being a good citizen is to raise your hand and volunteer to serve that community you call home,” says Engleman.
