Camden man sentenced for Cherry Hill shooting

Camden County Prosecutor Warren W. Faulk reported a Camden man was sentenced Friday for shooting a friend in the face at a Cherry Hill hotel in 2010.

A 19-year-old male of the 1400 block of Norris Street in Camden, was sentenced to seven years incarceration in a New Jersey state prison. The male must serve 85 percent of that sentence before he is eligible for parole.

Assistant Prosecutor Al Durney plead the male to Aggravated Assault in April.

The male admitted to shooting a 19-year-old friend in the face after a dispute between the two.

Both were staying with a group at the Holiday Inn on Route 70 on July 8, 2010. A dispute between the two spilled into a first-floor hallway about 11:30 p.m. The man drew a gun and shot the 19-year-old male in the face.

The man then waited at the hotel for a ride to pick him up even as police arrived at the scene. The 19-year-old victim recovered from his wounds.

A surveillance camera at the hotel recorded footage of the shooting. Responding officers also found outside the hotel the firearm used in the shooting.
