Board of Education President Steven Weinstein thanked the voters of Haddonfield Thursday afternoon for successfully passing the 2011–2012 school district budget. This is the second year in a row that voters have passed the district’s budget.
Here is what the president had to say:
“The board thanks the community for continuing its strong support for education. We are gratified that the budget passed with such a large plurality (about 73 percent), especially with the low turnout. While we hope that the high percentage reflects the community’s sense that the district is managing the schools prudently given difficult economic times, we also understand that the challenge to save money while providing quality education never ends. For that reason, the district continues to pursue opportunities for non-tax revenues (such as tuition students and distance learning programs) and for cost-sharing and invites the community to continue to share ideas with us on the future direction of the school system.”
