Popular open mics continue on Friday

The second open mic night will be held at the Markeim Art Center this friday from 6:30 to 10 p.m., 104 Walnut Street, Haddonfield. This new program showcases some of the most talented young musicians from the South Jersey area.

Held in the Markeim gallery, the first hour of the evening is the “spotlight” hour, which features some of the most talented student musicians from the area, according to Markeim representatives. After the first hour more more experienced performers will take the stage.

Penciled in for this week’s open mic show are The Edible Animals, Beardspace, Ray Long, Isabella Mercanti, Tides of Deception, Brayton and Langston, Joe Nicastro, and Brian McNally.

General admission is $8; $4 for students and seniors. The event is free for Markeim members and performers.

Also, visitors can stay for this month’s gallery exhibition, “Influence and Confluence: An Exhibition of South Jersey Art Professors, their Students and Alumn.”

The exhibition will feature a special artists reception on Sunday, March 27 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the center and also at the Hopkins House Gallery of Contemporary Art, 250 S. Park Drive, Haddon Township.

Gallery hours are Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Also, Saturdays from 1 to 3 p.m.
