Haddonfield teacher gets music grant

Haddonfield music teacher Polly Murray was recognized at the New Jersey Music Educator’s state conference in late February for writing a successful grant application to the organization.

Murray was honored for writing a successful grant to incorporate technology into the music curriculum at J.F. Tatem Elementary School. Murray wrote the grant worth $1,000 for an LCD projector that is now in use in the school’s music room.

She has also written an article for the state music teach magazine — TEMPO — which will be printed in the spring 2011 issue. The article will feature the benefits of the implementation of technology in the music classroom.

Murray was honored by the Haddonfield Board of Education on Thursday, March 10 for her grant. She received a commendation from Superintendent Richard Perry for her work and her grant application.

She was also honored at the State Music Educators’ Conference in New Brunswick on Friday, Feb. 25 for her dedication to musical education.
