Obituary: Herbert J. Lorenz

Herbert J. Lorenz of Medford passed away on Feb. 27 at the Samaritan Hospice Inpatient Center in Mt. Holly. He was 71.

Born in Frankfurt, Germany, he has resided in Medford for the past year, moving there from Mt. Laurel. A lifelong educator and athlete, Herbert was a graduate of Trenton State College and began his teaching career at Netcong High School. He moved to Burlington Township High School and Middle School where he taught Industrial Arts.

He was an active coach of track and cross country with Burlington Tonwship, Holy Cross and Lenape high schools and was a member of the US National Cross Country Team.

A two time National Masters Runner of the Year, he was also a member of the Hall of Fames of the Road Runners Club of America, the SJ Track and Field and the Burl. Co. Track and Field.

He is the Beloved husband of Irma M. (Nee Vela) Lorenz of Medford and the Loving father of Diane Lorenz Stansbury and her husband Will of Arlington, Mass and Eric H. Lorenz and his wife Christine of Medford. He is also survived by grandchildren Randall Stansbury, Danielle Lorenz, Brian Lorenz and Jayson Stansbury. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family requests memorial donations to the Herbert Lorenz Scholarship Fund, C/O P.O. Box 1542, Medford, NJ 08055.
