Suspect arrested for a stolen handgun

The following items can be found on file with the Evesham Township Police Department:

On Feb. 23, at approximately 9:45 a.m. an Evesham Police Officer was on patrol in the area of Main Street and Evans Road in Marlton. While on patrol he received a notification from his automated license plate reader, that a vehicle that his passed his patrol vehicle was wanted by police in Pennsylvania.

The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2002 green Ford Escape with a PA license plate.

A white 30-year-old male of Swarthmore, PA was operating the vehicle.

The officer found that the suspect was wanted in Pennsylvania for a series burglaries.

The suspect was placed under arrest on the outstanding warrants from Pennsylvania. During his arrest he was found in possession of a .45 caliber handgun. Investigation found that the handgun was reported stolen in Pennsylvania.

The suspect was charged with Being a Fugitive from Justice, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Receiving Stolen Property. Bail has been set at $50,000.

The suspect was committed to the Burlington County Jail in default of the required bail
