More snow on the way Saturday

It may not be snowing right now, but just wait, more is on the way tomorrow. The National Weather Service is calling for snow tomorrow that could be heavy at times. The NWS has issued a winter storm watch for the region, which is in effect from Saturday morning through late Saturday night.

Three to five inches of snow is expected during the day in Haddonfield, with the possibility for another inch before 11 p.m. Saturday night.

The NWS released this advisory for areas under the winter storm watch: Snow would stick to roadways, especially but not exclusively untreated ones. Snowfall rates would cause the visibility to drop to or below one-half mile for a period of time. Driving would become hazardous.

Camden County Heath Officer Robert Smith announced a “Cold Blue” for the county from Friday night to Sunday night. The code is in effect from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. each of the days.

The county’s emergency management has advised all municipal coordinators to open all warming centers during the code.

“During these weather emergencies, we encourage everyone to check on elderly or handicapped relatives or neighbors that live alone,” said Freeholder Carmen Rodriguez, liaison to the Camden County Department of Health and Human Services. “It is important that those among the most vulnerable are not left without heat or electricity.”

Contact the municipality if you are seeking a warming center location.
