Town Center project a finalist for award

Voorhees Town Center’s $150 million mixed-use redevelopment is a finalist for the Best Mixed Use Community Site Plan in the National Association of Home Builders 2010 Pillars of the Industry Awards. The project, a true community center with high-quality retail and non-traditional tenants, is a joint effort by Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust and developers Dewey Commercial Investors, L.P. and was selected as a 2010 top trend setter within the multifamily housing industry. The prestigious Pillars of the Industry Awards program is specifically designed to honor the finest multi-family design, development, management and marketing projects across the nation. The winners will be announced in fall.

Voorhees Town Center’s mixed-use redevelopment is a four-pronged project that consists of The Mall, The Boulevard, The Offices and The Residences. The Mall, a renovated and right-sized two-level enclosed shopping center, is anchored by Macy’s and Boscov’s and features a Food Court and approximately 90 retailers, while Main Street retail is beginning to line the beautifully landscaped Boulevard, including Rizzieri Master Salon, Rizzieri Aveda School for Beauty & Wellness and Intoxx Fitness. The Residences, the new Abitare Apartment Homes & Residences, held its Grand Opening in May, and as the final facet, The Offices, an award-winning, state-of-the art office building is home to The Star Group, South Jersey’s largest advertising agency.

“Voorhees Town Center features the critical components of a one-stop lifestyle destination,” said Dan Rubin, vice president of development for PREIT. “With new restaurants, national and regional retailers and additional ‘Main Street’ shopping and residential living space expected over the next year, South Jersey has a lot of great things to look forward to.”

Already an award-winning property, Voorhees Town Center was recently recognized by the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission as the 2009 Regional Land Use Project of the Year. Additionally, Voorhees Town Center’s The Star Group Headquarters project received the Building of America Award from Real Estate & Construction Review.
