Boys, Girls State candidates graduate

A record 13 juniors from Haddonfield Memorial High School recently graduated from the Jersey Girls State and Boys State programs, American Legion Post 38 announced. The programs are important parts of the N.J. American Legion’s “Youth Americanism Program,” the purpose of which is to develop good citizens by inspiring the youth of New Jersey to take a more active and intelligent interest in the operation of our state and nation and in the privileges and responsibilities of citizenship.

Jersey Girls State was conducted at Georgian Court University in Lakewood. This year’s Girls State delegates were Alexandra Marshall, Lara Weinstein, Amy Sparrow and Katherina Heffron.

Jersey Boys State was conducted at Rider University in Lawrenceville. This year’s Boys State delegates were Alex Romash, Asher Weinstein, Anthony Parenti, Jacob Peacock, Peter Lanzi, Will Dengler, Sam Haley, Conor Jacobs and Joe LaMaina.

American Legion Post 38 would be unable to send more than two delegates without the help of local organizations and businesses, among them Conner Strong Companies, Haddon Fire Co. №1, Lion’s Club of Haddonfield, Haddonfield Floral Co., Haddonfield Y’s Men’s Club, Post 38, Wachovia/ Wells Fargo Bank and Baird Entities.
