On July 18, age 79, a longtime resident of Westmont. Beloved mother of Christine Southward of Haddon Township, Therese McGee of Haddon Heights., William J., Jr. of Havertown, Pa., Daniel of Haddon Township, Scott of Haddonfield, Keith of Haddonfield and the late Ted of Haddonfield . Also survived by 14 grandchildren, one great grandchild and her brother William Fifer of Florida.
Joan had been a Realtor in Haddonfield, the secretary for Bancroft’s Child Study Team and eventually became Bancroft’s volunteer coordinator. She was also a volunteer and board member of Caring Hearts Ministry.
Joan’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchild to whom she was known by the various appellations Mom, Grandmom, Grandmother and Mom-Mom. Among all of her descendants, she is recognized as one of the wisest, most loving persons they have ever known as she will be enormously missed by all of them.
The Knecht family will receive friends on Thursday, July 22, from 11 to 11:45 a.m. at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, 1739 Ferry Ave. in Camden, where the funeral mass will follow at noon. Interment, private.
