BookMates, the interfaith literacy program of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Southern New Jersey and the Catholic Jewish Commission, seeks adult volunteer reading mentors to spend one hour per week during the school day (October through June) reading on a one-to-one basis with at-risk students in elementary schools throughout South Jersey.
Training sessions for new volunteers will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 16 from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 17 from 10 to 11:30 a.m., and Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., at the Katz Jewish Community Center in Cherry Hill.
Attendance is required at one session only.
