Cleats 4 Kids

Once again, football cleats and assorted sporting equipment will be collected by the Cleats 4 Kids organization for the upcoming fall season. The organization was founded by Bryan O’Donnell, a 2007 Cherokee graduate, for the purpose of disturbing the collected cleats and equipment to associations, clubs and players who do not have finances for such things. The drive was started in 2006 and has grown tremendously since. During the last football season over 250 pairs of cleats were given to those in need. Bryan, now a junior at the University of Delaware has reached out to the Cherokee football players and they have helped in the collection and sorting of the cleats and equipment. Lori Swartz, an incoming freshman at Cherokee, started a soccer cleat drive last year and has already collected over 100 pairs of cleats that have been distributed.

Donations will be accepted at the MRC football practice field (Evesboro Rd.) from 6–8 pm Monday through Thursday in August. Thanks to the community, this organization is making a difference one pair of cleats at a time.

Contact Bryan or Walt O’Donnell 596–6706 or e-mail dwodon@comcast.net for more information.
